Carcinoma in situ is also called in situ cancer, is different from invasive carcinoma and refers to a group of abnormal cells that exist only on the first layer of cells. They may spread out develop into cancer.
The chances of successfully treating cancer decreases with the progression of stages, while stage 1 cancer that occurs in a localized area has 90% success, stage 4 or metastatic cancer has less than 10% success rate.
