The patient needs to undergo detailed evaluation including CAG and based on the results further treatment plan will be decided.

What is CAG (Coronary Angiography)?

Blockages prevent your heart from getting oxygen and important nutrients. This procedure is used to diagnose coronary heart disease and coronary microvascular disease after chest pain, sudden cardiac arrest, or abnormal results from tests such as an electrocardiogram (EKG) of the heart or an exercise stress test. It is important to detect blockages because over time they can cause chest pain, especially with physical activity or stress, or a heart attack. If you are having a heart attack, coronary angiography can help your doctors plan your treatment.

After Coronary angiography, your doctor will remove the catheter, possibly use a closure device to close the blood vessel, and close and bandage the opening on your arm, groin, or neck. You will stay in the hospital for a few hours or overnight.

What is MVR (Mitral Valve Replacement)?

Mitral Valve Replacement is a cardiac surgical procedure in which a patient’s affected mitral valve is replaced by either a mechanical or bio-prosthetic valve. Mitral valve replacement is performed when the valve becomes too tight (mitral valve stenosis) for blood to flow into the left ventricle, or too loose (mitral valve regurgitation) in which case blood can leak back into the left atrium and thereby back into the lung. After the surgery, the patient is monitored in the ICU for 2-3 days, then shifted to our post-operative ward where the stay is for about 5-6 days and then discharged.
