Microdiscectomy Surgery cost in India is 5,500 6,000 USD with 5 days hospital stay in twin sharing room. Microdiscectomy, also sometimes called microdecompression or microdiskectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat a herniated lumbar disc. The procedure involves removing portions of the herniated disc that put pressure on the spinal nerve and help relieve pain.
Although it is a relatively safe procedure , complications such as dual tear (cerebrospinal fluid leak) , nerve root damage, recurrent disc herniation, bowel or bladder incontinence , bleeding , and infection may occur.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and most patients can expect to be discharged from the hospital the same day or within 24 hours. A full recovery usually takes about six weeks, and it is advised to avoid driving, sitting for long periods of time , lifting anything heavy, and bending over immediately after surgery, as these activities put pressure on the spine and impede recovery.
