Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF) Using the minimally invasive spinal procedure to treat damaged or degenerated spinal discs. Disc degenerated can occur as a result of age genetic factor trauma or normal wear and tear and it can cause severe pain swelling numbness weakness and loss of mobility.
The procedure involves removing the damaged disc and replacing it with an implant filled with bone graft. The implant helps to realign the vertebra and relieve pain and pressure due to compressed nerves it also stabilizes the spine and eliminates movement between the vertebrae. TLIF has fewer complications a lower risk of infection and minimal scarring when compared to open surgery and has a shorter recovery period.
You may experience mild pain and weakness following the procedure but you will be able to resume normal activities within a few weeks.
