Acute-on-Chronic Liver failure (ACLF) is a heterogeneous complex disease characterized by deteriorating liver and kidney function and can be associated with organ failure in patients with chronic liver disease. A liver transplantation may be recommended for end-stage liver disease (chronic liver failure).
Liver transplant or hepatic transplantation is a surgical procedure that removes a liver that no longer functions properly (liver failure) and replaces it with a healthy liver, it is usually reserved as a treatment option for patient who have significant complications due to end- stage chronic liver disease.
