Every patient who is to operated for weight loss is discussed in the medical board which takes place twice, weekly and a comprehensive treatment plan is agreed upon
- Progressive, life-threatening disease which results from the excess storage of fat with multiple co-morbidities.
- Morbid Obesity- Clinical obesity which is so severe that serious medical conditions occurs as a direct result.
- Defined as >100 pounds over Ideal Body Weight (IBW).
- Body Mass Index (BMI) >40/>37.5 or 35 (BMI) with two co-morbidities.

Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band (AGB)- It involves an inflatable band that is placed around the upper portion of the stomach and therefore, making stomach smaller. The surgery limits the amount of food the stomach can hold and therefore it is helps in loosing weight.
Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy- It is restrictive procedure, in this is approximately 80 percent of the stomach is removed and thus, limiting the amount of food that can be eaten at one time. It does not cause decreased absorption of nutrients.
Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass- It is considered the 'gold standard' of weight loss surgery. In this surgeon reduces the size of your stomach to a small pouch by stapling off a section of it and then attaching it directly to the small intestine, bypassing most of the rest of the stomach and the upper part of the small intestine.
