Surgery for pituitary gland tumors is the most common form of treatment, and involves removing the entire tumor through either the nose or the top of the skull, depending on the size and location of the tumor. Most pituitary tumors can be removed by transsphenoidal tumor surgery is the first line of treatment in patients with pituitary gland tumors.This means the surgeon goes through the nose to get to the tumor.
