Colon cancers in stage 3 spreads to nearby lymph nodes and not yet to other parts of the body. The standard treatment for this stage is surgery to remove the section of the colon with the cancer (partial colectomy) as well as nearby lymph nodes, followed by adjuvant chemotherapy. For some advanced colon cancers that cannot be completely removed by surgery. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with radiation (also known as chemotherapy-radiation) may be used to shrink the cancer .
So that can be surgically removed later.
