The cost of bilateral total knee replacement in India for International patients is between 4,000 USD to 6,100 USD (Unilateral knee replacement) ; 6,000 USD to 10,700 USD (Bilateral knee replacement) in twin sharing room. Cost for Indian patients is between INR 1.8 lakh to 2.5 lakh (Unilateral) ; INR 3.2 lakh to 4.5 lakh (Bilateral) in twin sharing room. Total Stay in Hospital will be 4 days.(Unilateral knee replacement); 5 days (Bilateral knee replacement). Total Stay in India will be 18 to 21 days.
A bilateral total knee replacement is a surgical procedure that replaces both of the patients knees at the same time. It is recommended for patients with severe arthritis in both knees or other conditions that have caused significant damage to the knee joint. The advantages of bilateral knee replacement tend to be associated with cost and convenience. The operation involves removing the damaged knee joints from both knees and replacing them with artificial knees called prosthesis.
Following operation, the patient will be required to use crutches or a walker for 2-4 weeks, and physical therapy will be recommended to regain strength and mobility. Pain medications can also be administered for a 2 to 3 weeks to relieve pain and discomfort. The surgery relieves pain and improves movement, allowing the patient to return to normal activities in 3 to 6 weeks.
